Lit pumpkins line my windows,
Bowls of sweets sit by the door,
Awaiting Trick-or-Treaters–
Ninjas and Princesses — by the score.

There’s scary music blaring,
“Monster Mash” sets the tone tonight.
It’s 8 o’clock — the witching hour —
and still nary a child in sight!

I don’t mind no one’s seen my guise,
And my decorating’s been in vain,
But that darn eight pounds of candy,
Is casting spells for scary weight gain!
